... such an idiot.

Mon Jun 23, 2008, 11:14 PM
I am such an idiot.

A week into my C++ programming class, and I've already made a complete arse out of myself. And I can't blame my professor is she decides not to give me the points for my work. Because they're stupid mistakes. And they are honestly my fault.

... gah. :'<

Speaking of programming: my computer engineer friends are all delighted that I'm finally stepping into their fields. They all seem strangely intent on showing me the error of my biology ways, trying to convert me to their field of expertise by showing me the cooler side of computer programming.

And I must say, programming is kind of cool.

Not that I understand most of what they tell me (gibberish is still gibberish, regardless what language it's in - english or C++), but it's actually pretty darn neat.

Now, if only I could STOP being an idiot in my programming class....

...I don't think it's going to help you feel any better once you found out you posted this journal twice...
I'm sorry. :hug: Things will get better. At least you know what not to do, so you can do the rest of your assignments that much better.

Good luck! Thinking programming is cool is a good start... I hated it, only just managed to get through C programming XP

I'm on computer programming college for 3 years now (C, Java, and Assembly)--still making a complete arse out of myself by flunking every now and then--but I guess it gets really fun after a while. :] My transcript's currently all ugly, but if I'm still standing, I know you can, too~

Go kheleksul! :w00t:

Gah... I just finished programming this term. (And I have programming 2 next term D: ) I took a look around the class and noticed that all the people who could draw could not program. All the people who... uh, weren't SO artistic were much better. There were a couple of people who amazingly possessed both ends of the spectrum, but I was not one of them.
In short, I know where you're comming from.

We didn't do C++, though... I dunno what it's called, but the code kinda looked like: if(ayem==awesome){pageview = pageview + 1};

ah hah, welcome to the dark side... (been programming for 15 years). C++ is a great language to take as the syntax in it is very similar to a lot of the more wider used web scripting languages (javascript and actionscript). Have fun.
I found it helpful to learn JavaScript first -- similar syntax and objects.

Of course, I still don't know C++ -- when I tried to learn it a few years ago I found it lacking some basic functionality (such as getting the length of an array -- though I think I have a manual way of doing this) -- but if I had to read a few pages of C++ code I could probably decipher most of it, thanks to my JS experience.
